Why choose the Senior SOAR Transition Program?
Students often experience difficulties associated with career exploration and supports during their High-School years, having a diagnosable Learning Disability while searching for a career in which eliminates barriers can be difficult. The SOAR Senior program was designed to assist in the transition to either Post-Secondary Education or Career, while creating the opportunity to eliminate anxiety and confusion of picking a career, school, and what documentation is needed to access accommodations. The aim of this program is to help parents/guardians understand the process of Post-Secondary Education/Career, while allowing for the opportunity for students to feel excited and motivated to approach this new chapter.
Designed specifically for students with Learning Disabilities and their parents, the Some Assembly Required Senior program is designed to help students in grades 11 and 12 transition from High School to either Post-Secondary Education or the Workplace, while providing parents/guardians the resources they need to support their students’ transition. Students will have the opportunity to set career specific goals, establish self-advocacy techniques, and the opportunity to obtain the skills and resources needed to successfully transition into their Post-Secondary career/education. Upon conclusion of the program, Students are required to prepare, submit, and present ‘Where Are They Going?’ Projects, which will be worked on throughout the program; to allow them to understand their career goals.
6:30 PM – Will either be an hour or an hour and a half
Our 10-week program, starting March 23rd, 2021, includes two separate sessions, Tuesdays specifically designed for students while Thursdays are designed for their Parents/Guardians; both sessions will begin at 6:30 and will either be an hour or an hour/half.
Required documents: Please note that a copy of the student’s psych-ed assessment and current IEP must be provided at the point of registration in order to enroll your student into this program. Required documents are shared only with program staff. Please email all documents to email@example.com.
The Learning Disabilities Association of Halton-Hamilton follows and will continue to follow all Public Health guidelines and requirements for the operation of its in-person programs. However, due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19 and it’s affect on the Halton-Hamilton area, the Learning Disabilities Association of Halton-Hamilton reserves the right to transition all in-person classes to a virtual environment in accordance to any recommendation by Health Canada. When signing up for this program, you agree that in-person classes may be held online when deemed necessary. No refunds will be applicable in the case that classes continue in-person and families choose to withdraw, but applicants will have the choice to withdraw if classes transition to online-based learning.
Program Cancellation Policy
50% of the registration fee will be refunded for any program cancellation received 2 weeks prior to the first class.

Many of our programs have limited space available as we aim to provide a low student to teacher ratio; unfortunately space cannot be held for any student until payment is received.
We reserve the right to cancel program sessions if minimum numbers are not reached.
